Michael Phillips

Professor Michael Phillips, is a tenured full professor at the College of Charleston, Charleston, SC. He has been a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome, Italy and the Cardiff College of Art in Cardiff, Wales. He has received a Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship in painting, a major NEA grant in painting and a CAPS grant in painting from New York City. He has lectured at New York University, Brandeis University, Tufts University and the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, among others as well as The College of Charleston where he is a tenured full professor. He is listed in Who’s Who in American Art.

He has exhibited in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Charleston, Cardiff, Wales and Amsterdam, Holland and has work in collections internationally in Cardiff, Wales, Rome, and Amsterdam. He has published a number of essays on the meaning and content of contemporary art
